Lost in a sea on incoherent musings, I wandered through today. Passing through a couple of towns on the way, to play muzac wit da band y’all! Yeah - I “did” the Rememberence Sunday ting large ya know!
Seriously though, first one in Middlewich was kinda funny, in that I arrived on time, but nearly missed the band marching off, cos a nice police woman lady wouldn’t let me approach the area in my car, perhaps a little over zealous of my intentions? In the end I simply ignored her and drove forwards anyways, waving my band uniform and siging things like “Will my car be ok parked here????” - to which she decided I was harmless enough and put her attentions to something else, namely the the traffic. They changed the format this year in Middlewich so things were a little confused not to mention quite the P.A. system which in past experience could be heard three counties away appeared to have been secretly swapped for a cheapo “Argos-stylee” Karoke setup, with just one volume setting - “TOO QUIET” - So most of what we achieved this morning was through a mixture of telepathy and guesswork….
In the afternoon we moved to Runcorn, which stayed as it always does, a nice tiring uphill struggle to the senotaph, a few choice words to the assemblages of notables such as councillors and school children and various dignitaries from the order of the buffalo etc… and one or two not so notables too from X company this or Y Company that (you can tell I was paying attention huh?) - On the march back from the Senotaph (thankfully downhill this time…funny that?) I notice a family familiar face in the police car leading us, it turns out to be the chappy who used to be the local beat bobby on my street when I lived in Runcorn way back when, and when I was back at school etc… (shortly after electricity and lightbulbs) - HEY!! I’m not “that” old yet? Anyhooooo, I had to loiter with serious intent to have a quick chat, and so I did, and heheh; I was remembered by him (in a good way! I wasn’t a bad kid you know?) and if you are reading this mum he asked how you were doing, since the last contact we had with him was when you were in hospital…so there you go!!!
Finally after the marching in Runcorn, I decided to do what has now become a bit of a tradition for me, and that was to go put some fresh flowers on Grandad’s grave, course it was also Great Grandad anf Great Grandma’s too
So, on this a day of rememberence I decided to remember them too in my own way…
Came home again and channel hopped for a while, then happened upon one called “Quiz-Nation” . . . . . . . .
(silence)
I’ll say it once more…. “Quiz-Nation” - I saw the puzzle, looked incredibly simple! I know I’ll have a go…dang I didn’t get through? Perhaps one more try….. Dang!!!!
Long story short - got through to studio a grand total of three times, won absolutley NOTHING, and now expecting a nice phone bill (or not so nice depending on your view) - I think I need therapy, that channel is very very very DANGEROUS…
Footnote - in thirty-one days I will be thirty-one….
