For all you instant Messenger users out there, here is a little background — – > WORM INFECTED MESSAGES

Some may think this is nothing but hype, but as computers become more common place, the average “Jo” on the street that uses a PC, is either ignorant or complacent to the risks behind virus attacks. Most points of attack are now protected, however Instant Messaging is an area that appears often overlooked.

Read the linked article and make your own mind up, and next time you have a conversation with someone, even if you know them well, think at least three times before clicking on a link they send your way via the Messenger client.

Sometimes we become too trusting of such communication devices. If Instant Messaging is something you simply can’t escape from then at least educate yourself to the risks and flaws inherant in the system. You will thank yourself later, when some annonymous hacker on the Internet fails to connect to your machine or worse to steal your identity….

Certainly food for thought people…but don’t think this is anything new, it has been happening pretty much since the dawn of the internet. It is one of the biggest problems of a system as open as this, but as with all things in this universe there is no good without any bad….
