A weekend of good company and good food, like Nelson - “I am satisfied. Thank God”; though I consider my weekend more of a pleasure than a duty…;P

Where to begin, where to begin?

Well I am not going into too many specifics, but I will give you a general idea of things. On Saturday, I met someone whom I have gradually got to know over the last few weeks.

Despite all my planning, I still managed to get lost, which threw our schedule out a bit, and well it’s always difficult when you meet someone for the first time, you want to make the best impression possible. In my case, I felt like my inability to navigate had let me down (yet again!). I didn’t let it dampen spirits though - after a few drinks we decided to go to my choice of pub which I found on T’Internet we both quickly descovered was a bit of a mistake (oops - there was like one car in the car park, and no sign that they sold food at all) - After driving round and getting lost in Nottingham (which to be fair I said would happen!! :P ) we drive out of town towards….er….somewhere…(hehe) and find a really nice pub, with what I can only suggest is a most unfortunate name….“The Admiral Rodney” which after a little digging is a more popular name than you would imagine (and one linked with Nelson - Randomness!!) - anyways! This small village pub was a lovelly real ales pub and served food (most important) - my beautiful companion for the evening had a chicken and rocket tagliatelle whilst I had one of the house specials of a “Smoky” haddock on a bed of Bubble and squeek with cheese and bacon sauce (apologies to my Guinnea-pig in advance)…which turned out be little more than mashed potatoes and carrots in a bacon flavoured sauce tasted ok though. We both followed this with some desert…a sticky toffee and wallnut creation, where the sauce tasted more treacally than like toffee and was obviously microwaved! (still sweet enough though hehe)

During the course of the evening the pub filled nearly to capacity, and we lost site of the bar - it also became apparent that this must be the only pub in the whole village due to the wide spectrum of people in there :) from the young to the old, with smartly dressed to casual….one lovelly older lady (bless!) had a scarf round her neck that at a quick glance made her look like the lady mayoress of this village (Wollaton by the way) anyways; despite my shyness I am hoping that the evening was enjoyable to my companion and I am sure I will learn of that in the fullness of time….I will leave the rest of the evening to the imagination, as I am still tired and need a little bit more sleep before work.
