Wandered around Central and Soho
Posted by: cyberevolution in General, tags: General, Karma, Picture, TravelToday was another easy paced day, with fine weather and a refreshingly cool breeze (probably from the cyclone headed our way, the edge of which is due to hit us Wednesday) - for lunch Lousie, Ali and I went to Central to meet Dilly, her mum, Lisa and my Sister for some Dim Sum, at what turned out to be the most exclusive and expensive DimSum restaurant in all of Hong Kong, Maxims!! Where you might spy the odd politician or celeb…(didn’t see any today though).
Afterwards we ascended a short way up the travellator towards Soho near Central, and took in ManWu Temple here are some pictures >>
This is an introduction to the temple and a little of it’s history…
The conicle shapes hanging around are acually all incence sticks burning away, the aroma was amazing and peaceful!
This is what you see as you go through the entrance, and gives you some idea of the grandeur of this temple
After we were finshed here we wandered through the antique markets of Soho and saw some amazing sights, probably non of which could be brought back due to their nature, from Mammoth Tusks intricatley carved to opium smoking pipes all individually designed, it gives you a real sense of the history behind the place here, though not everything we saw was indiginous to Hong Kong, with some imports in shops from perhaps India and surrounding areas!
Here’s a cool shot I got on the walk back down to central >>
Perhaps you will get another update after Wednesday when I go to the races in Happy Valley, so ta-ta for now!
