..Obviously exercise is the main factor here, BUT - which diet is the most effective?  I am going to try the two week cereal challenge for now, but moving forward should I go for low carbs, low fat? Or perhaps a Macrobiotic diet?

There is just sooooo many different diets out there at the moment and I don’t have a clue, My main diet at the moment consists of staples including rice, pasta, chicken and tuna with some veg and some fruit (though I ought to eat more veg and fruit).

I am also terrible at portion control - being single in my own home, it may surprise you how difficult it is to cook for one most of the time!  Due to this, you fall into the “convenience” trap that is offered by the presence of a pletherer of pizza parlours and fast food outlets all on your doorstep.

I just need a little prod and poke in the right direction, except in this online age, it seems noone is willing to share their nutritional wisdom without you having to sign away half your savings on a subscription!!!

This is basic health and lifestyle stuff, and shouldn’t be coming at a price to ANYONE!

…sigh….

…well no not exactly, yet Superman Returns; isn’t really a sequel - as it doesn’t entirely follow on where things left off, niether is it a remake (yes I went to see it yesterday); but all that aside a very good effort by all, top casting and whilst in my heart you could never “replace” Christopher Reeve (God rest his soul) - you can certainly complement it, as Brandon Routh picks up the Olympic Torch that is Supermans unforgettable cape and boots; long live the red caped phenomenon, when I went to the cinema with my brother and sister-in-law we settled down to the opening sequence and as only a infant of no more than eight could do (which secretly we all wanted to!) - at the end of the opening sequence gasps out in a loud whisper “WHOAH!”, replied by a quick “Shhh!!” from his parents and a lot of chuckles from the rest of us - it really helped make the atmosphere (better than the lad behind in full Superman outfit including plastic wig!)…

If your a stalwart of the old Superman, and refuse to move on, I still recomend you go and see this, for even as a stand alone movie it has some merit!  No shortage of stunts, cgi and caped wonder stuff to add to the “WHOAH!” factor of the movie - so much so, that you hardly notice the two and a half hours pass by (yes TWO!!)

Anyways, as the credits rolled so did my feet straight to the toilet to releive my struggling bladder!

In other news - mum is still in hospital and we simply don’t know when they will get their act together.  We all met up for lunch at the hospital, Mum, Dad, Andrew, Jo, Rachel and I - Rachel said her goodbyes with a couple of tears and the odd joke and went to the airport for her flight back to Hong Kong, and shortly after we all drifted of ourselves.

I’m hiding in the cool interior of my home at the moment, it’s simply too hot to go out for me, (and my hayfever makes me pretty much a prisoner to myself on days like this).

Well, hope you lot of having a nice weekend where-ever you are…laters

Mood : drained

Today has totally dragged it’s heels on me, on a day I’d rather not be in work too!  Feeling really drained with all the added travelling I have done this week.  Nothing new to report with my mum, some more scans to run in a few days, but until then it’ll be the same old story - lack of care, lack of support from an already strained system.

It’s a shame really - I have been paying National Insurance contributions for over a third of my life, and if I were to fall ill what return would I get on any of that investment?  My view is a rather pessimistic one based on current situations and experience.

Caught a bit of Big Brother the other night, and it’s as complicated as ever, Nikki is beginning to crumble under the pressure, and Pete is still the star of the show!

Not sure how often I will be blogging over the next few days, as I just don’t have the energy of late…

Well, unfortunatley mum took a turn for the worse at the weekend and was taken into hospital.  It seems a likley they may have to operate, but it’s too soon to tell.  She’s on a surgical ward at Warrington General Hospital…and whilst I don’t begrudge paying a few pennies to park (£1 for upto 3 hours)

It would seem that patients have to pay £3.50 a day just to watch ordinary TV! Or 30p to play a game (that’s 30p per play!!) - also if you ring anyone you will be welcomed by a nice phone bill at the end of the month as the calls are in excess of 60p a minute!

If the NHS is struggling so badly for money where is all this revenue going?

Just based on averages there’s potential income of in excess of £160,000 a year! In just one hospital.  NHS Cash Crisis – — > Sounds all too familiar.  All the money is apparently being lost into Management, I always believed the addage “Too many cooks spoil the broth” - look’s like in the case of the NHS the broth has all but boiled dry!

Seems to me, that unless you’re minted and own several homes, you can look forward to little or no real level of care and comfort in an NHS hospital.

I’ve signed myself up with the local VETS as I am certain to get a higher level of care from them!  At least they will put me down and deal with disposal should they be unable to do anything more for me :P
