Which is the right diet?
Posted by: cyberevolution in General, tags: From LARD 2 HARD, General, Karma, Media, Soap Box..Obviously exercise is the main factor here, BUT - which diet is the most effective? I am going to try the two week cereal challenge for now, but moving forward should I go for low carbs, low fat? Or perhaps a Macrobiotic diet?
There is just sooooo many different diets out there at the moment and I don’t have a clue, My main diet at the moment consists of staples including rice, pasta, chicken and tuna with some veg and some fruit (though I ought to eat more veg and fruit).
I am also terrible at portion control - being single in my own home, it may surprise you how difficult it is to cook for one most of the time! Due to this, you fall into the “convenience” trap that is offered by the presence of a pletherer of pizza parlours and fast food outlets all on your doorstep.
I just need a little prod and poke in the right direction, except in this online age, it seems noone is willing to share their nutritional wisdom without you having to sign away half your savings on a subscription!!!
This is basic health and lifestyle stuff, and shouldn’t be coming at a price to ANYONE!
…sigh….

A good diet is a healthy balance of food, no cutting out this and that. Just eat a balanced diet and make sure you do exercise.
Goign on any of this “fad” diets for a couple of weeks or a coulpe of months will just result in weight going back up afterwards. Enjoy a decent balanced meal and daily exercise (walking/cycling, even if just during a lunch break or 30-60mins in the evening) and it should pay off.
That’s my opinion anyway! :-p
Well! That’s what these comments are for - people’s thoughts and opinions
Woooooooooooooooo …now you’ve started something
Exercise has it’s place …usually in a charity shop with all the other gym equipment …but over eating is the real issue
If you over fill a car with fuel …you flood the forecourt …do the same to you’re body …and you end up looking like a weather balloon.
Diets that restrict your intake can trigger the body’s famine defence mechanism …and you will gain weight just by looking at a cookbook …for years to come …That’s why ex Weightwatchers …including instructors …cause unsheduled eclipses of the Sun …I actually gain weight and become unwell by eating so called healthy foods …because of the way my metabolism works …find out some info on metabolic diets
Actually …I lost 5st just by not nibbling between meals …ie Fish & Chips …bangers and mash …pizza …and nibbling on my girlfriends ear(exercise) ….CHICKEN ….beware …with the high levels of growth promoter…you could end up looking like The Hulk after a blow out
A word of comfort …having worked in the Health Service …I have never witnessed one dead body slumped into a double portion of vindaloo at a curry house …or a stiff Engand supporter with a six pack in one hand and a 1lb block of chocolate in the other
…plenty of dead joggers …squash players …though
Luv,
Eddie.
In response to Eddie’s comment… True, but exercise in moderation is good. It’s like food, over do it and it’s not good.
Although, while somebody might not die WHILE eating a vindaloo, fry-up or chocolate, or WHILE drinking a 6 pack… It all builds up and exessive weight does kill.
Still, we’re all going to die at some point (sad but true). You could get knocked down by a bus tomorrow (there’s not many buses around here, so that’s not likely to happen to me
). I say enjoy life and as long as you’re weight isn’t effecting your health all is good!
Exercise is not all its cracked up to be …all my present aches and pains are from sports injuries sustained when I was younger …I reckon if I had stayed in my bedroom with a computer …or blond …or both …I would now be 100% fit.
My point that people don’t necessarily die when eating a curry …from experience …is true …but many do peg it …fat …thin or otherwise …when they think a bit of exercise would be good for them
Get rid of those electric hedge trimmers …use hand shears etc …save a fortune …It always makes me laugh … the way people buy all these convenience products …so that they have time to go to the gym
Kinda like where your coming from there Eddie? But if we are talking about convenience products being the bane of fitness…
..I’d have to argue that the humble PC, and Media in general is the bane of Social Skills….
…I can pretty much guarrentee if you were to stick in your bedroom with your PC, the only blond you would end up with is a Labrador or Retrever!!
…We are all guilty of being lazy when it comes to fitness both physically and emotionally (even to a small degree) these days…
I’m just glad I’ve made it beyond the age of thirty, for me every year onwards is a gift.

…Yes …but at least I would be fit enough to take it walkies!
Hmmmm…..shame there’s no middle ground really?
