Living in the best of times and looking ahead…
Having stayed in bed all day with “MAN-FLU!!!” I decided to get up about 8ish this evening and have just been watching a homage to the miracle that was “Swap Shop” and as it has gone through its televisual metamorphosis over the last thirty years, I have woken up to the fact that these years are probably the best years I will ever experience on this planet, this last thirty years is a time that has enjoyed more change and growth globally than in any other civilisation’s reign, yes a lot of change was due to the Romans and the Greek/Lycians and the Chinese, but that change was a slow organic change.
Change over the last thirty years in my opinion has been far more fluid than organic, with the explosion in comunications; Commerce has changed for ever. Recreation has changed for ever, Medicine has changed for ever, Science has changed for ever….the list could go on….the world in my opinion is on the cusp of a new revolution, this could be good or bad depending on your view point.
A global revolution may well already be taking place, and it shouldn’t be about taking sides and fighting pathetic wars, either physically or politically, it should be about regaining the most important thing to us as human beings - FAMILY. The years ahead should be the years when the global family get’s over it’s adolescence and we try to exist as one. A family is full of interesting dynamics - everyone is different.
So, this should also follow on a global scale; diversity should be embraced and not smouthered, we should celebrate our differences, I guess for the most part I preach to the converted anyways, this is just my wish for the years ahead. I am tired of hearing about our soldiers stationed in the Middle East, fighting a war - for what exactly? Can anyone tell me?
My personal view at the moment is that America is the adolescent in our global family, and it will soon be time for it to grow up. China, Asia, Europe, Africa; the rest of the world is far older, and though not necessarily far wiser - ought to be listened to a bit more. In the coming years my eyes will be watching American politics with interest and perhaps a little fear.
1 commentI feel terrible…
I am full of a cold, and more than a little miserable now, no thanks to TISCALI!!!! I have been without an internet connection since last Thursday, and over six phone calls later they advised, “oh it must be a problem with your phoinepoint on the wall, not supplying power to the modem”…
…Um HELLOOOO!!! I am speaking to you on the same bloody phoneline!
So what a shock it is to find it “mysteriously” working again tonight when I tried once more in vain (I thought) to reset the router. Oh well, as soon as I get my MAC code, I am off!!
In other news, I cooked a big Christmas Dinner for mum and dad, who came round because I was “on-call” and it was really nice, turkey, roast beef, all the veggies (and sprouts of course!) and mince pies
mmm……will be eating turkey for the next few days at least…Merry Christmas to everyone (belated I know but hey - blame Tiscali!! No please…send em a nasty email
)…and I happy New Year, I just hope I feel better in time for New Year, I am suppost to be going to a party!!!!
Today is my goddaughter’s turn!!
Today is my goddaughter, Abigail’s 3rd birthday. Although I have been lumbered with coming into work. I will be popping around later on with pressies and cards!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ABIGAIL!
2 commentsWhat a show!!

This was certainly a show to remember, with the show starting off in Kyle’s appartment - they somehow managed to fit a loose plot round all of the songs; I won’t give it away for those yet to see this but it was almost like going to a live version of the movie!! I loved every minute, apart from the support act - (though clever gig psychology ensued!) - the support was some wannabe comedian dishing out deliberatley un-funny and bad-taste jokes to us…. although insainly bad, this ploy was pure genius by “The D”
Well - let’s face it, absolutley anything that follows an act like this comedian would be sheer awesomeness! In my own humble opinion I doubt “The D” should need to resort to this, given their shining example of greatness and showmanship! The encore was eggsellent! With a fine rendition of “Tribute” - The Greatest Song in the World?!
This was a great way to spend my burfday indeed - Fankyoo to my Bruva and Sister-In-Law!
No commentsGuess who is 1 year older today!!
Whoop!! And after work I am heading down to Birmingham to see….”Tenacious’D'” LIVE!!! Wooohar!!! Fanks to my BIG BRUVA! Not sure when I will next get a chance to post. Though I will try on Saturday ![]()
….And Lo!! Forsooth and Mighty Dread….
On the 10th day of Christmas…. I got bored of my little blogmeme thing and gave up on it, however in more positive a note I actually scored more than one point playing squash this morning! I really think this could be my sport, I just have to get a little bit fitter…ok ok…A lot fitter!
I’m gonna ache soooo bad tomorrow…last night was fun too!! first Christmas do of the Year; and there I was strutting my stuff on the dance floor (if you could call it that) could hardly swing a cat in the space, oh well…..sigh; at least I wasn’t left with a mad hangover this morning
These random thoughts were brought to you by…..well….er me!!

Bruiser says hi…
Just got in from the first squash game of my life. (ouch)…excuse me whilst I catch my breath. They were not kidding when I was told, it’s a fit man’s sport….(I’m not quite up to the fit man standard)…soooo as you can imagine, my skin may take on a blue tinge in a couple of areas by tomorrow.
oh and to catch up on my meme theme…
“On the second day of Christmas my blogverse gave to me…two trackbacked links, and a meme in a complicated theme..”
“On the third day of Christmas my blogverse gave to me….three mapstat hits, two trackbacked links, and a meme in a complicated theme…”
…I think a pattern is starting to emerge?
Right I’m gonna get on with all my washing etc…and make sure there’s nothing for me to do chore wise in the week. I seriously need to relax more.. :/
