Keith at work brought up something today, which tickled my etymological juices - just where exactly did the phrase “In two shakes of a lamb’s tail” originate?

It would appear no-one is absolutley and categorically sure where this originated, some sources say America, whilst others argue definitley the UK!  What the general consensus is however is that it’s derivation comes from the obvious - i.e. there is little or no sub-text here - were you to observe a real lamb shake it’s tail; you would appreciate the synonymous meaning behind this phrase as being, rather quick, or in virtually no time at all!

In other news, there is no news (certainly nothing worthy of transmitting within my blogosphere for the time being anyway!)…

I’m out with the band this afternoon, but since I didn’t make it to rehersal (thanks again to work’s delicate balance with my life) I didn’t know we were out this weekend, I’ve literally had the call in the last half hour.  Oh well….

I have about 1/2hr to get my uniform sorted and go.
