This could be my last post, :surprised: , I am going out tramping (hiking for those not in the NZ know), with bossman - it’s gonna be high - pretty much the same as Mount Butler in Hong Kong. It’s gonna be hot and sunny, but I am prepeared I have put 2 layers of factor 30+ on….but if that’s not enough I currently have two “REALLY” loud crickets outside my place flirting with each other  …. :uncertain:

If I don’t make it back, tell my parents I love them?

Oh my god! No let me rephrase that OH MY F&^%ING GOD!!

Now I know The Blair Witch Project tried this sort of first person perspective approach a few years back, and I went to watch it in the cinema and fell asleep….CLOVERFIELD on the other hand, gave me the kind of adrenaline rush I’d expect from the most amazing roller-coaster ride in the world….Acting not the most naturalistic for a “found tape” approach but I forgive them desptie some of the corny jokes popped in here and there but hey….just watch it….try not to wet your pants, try not to hide you face, and try not to scream!! Enjoy the ride of you life!

This movie deserves a whole heap of awards - I’m still buzzing like mad from it  in fact I think I’ll watch it again….this is a new kind of movie altogether - it’s not a movie you go to watch, it’s a movie you go to experience!! Matt Reeves….I salute you! Now where did I put my spare pants…?

Ok this is a post especially for Mark! (you know who you are)….

Well, where to start? I got up this morning; did the washing up, I folded away my sofa-bed and got my laundry ready to take to the laundrette. Then I freshened up a bit, with a refreshing shower….(insert sordid mental images here)….after all that I chilled with some toast and a coffee; rang you! but you were still out…so chilled out some more; checked my emails, surfed some internet….(insert sordid mental images here)…..

Usual sorta stuff really…. then I rang you again and you were in!! We talked for a while :tech: then I dropped my laundry off and grabbed a cinema ticket to watch Cloverfield a little later on.

That’s about it so far for today….I’ll post more of my AMAZING life later on….I’ll probably do the usual and write a review about the fillum….or something, then again I might just spontaineously explode or vanish like Mr Petrelli, or stop time like my favourite Hiro Nakamura with his er….”Special Persons”, like “Flying Man!!”

I refer of course to a recent Guardian Article which highlights the amazing career of Peter Higgs, who postulated the existance of a particle which if proven to exist would back up his theory about why matter as we know it has mass…

It seems CERN’s Large Hadron Collider is near completion, this will be the largest particle accelerator in the world, and will basically accelerate particles to near the speed of light and collide them with each other….see? Does what it says on the tin! Who said physics was complicated eh…?

Anyhooo - this seems to be the best equipped location to prove or disprove Higg’s hypothesis regarding mass, ironic given CERN’s origional misgivings regarding his work.

This is all rather exciting?! Given that I have grown up in a world changing at exponential rates from microchips, and microwaves to nano-technology and playstation three’s! It’s seems we are reaching the edges of some boundaries that only a few years ago seemed insurmountable. In fact if you check out the pictures of the new CERN accelerator in Switzerland you’d be forgiven for thinking you were looking at the set of the next Star Trek movie!

I await the results of these breathtaking experiments going on with hope and excitement for the future. For those of you wondering where this tangent came from in my blog….I spent a couple of years studying Engineering Physics at university - and whilst I didn’t stay until the end through disolusionment with the course and it’s structure at the time, I remain an interested bystander in the subject.
