Ok…. so I am extra security conscious these days, and well it’s linked to my job, I am limited on hardware at home having just my crappy Acer laptop running Vista which for the purposes of my little experiment will be my supplicant device, and my PC running XP-64bit with a wired connection to my wireless router which will be my Access and Certificate Authority and LDAP Source and possibly a file server at the same time….

…so I plan to run several virtual machines on ESX-Vmware Server to act as a Radius Server, and a Certificate Authority (based round LDAP for simplicity) etc…

…Once I get that all up and running I’ll implement a secure wireless environment with 802.1x and Certificates < — Best practice approach for any wireless connection these days…

If it works? I’ll give myself a huge pat on the back for being able to set up a PKI (Public Key Infrastructure) solution in a virtualised environment!
