It would appear, depending on your viewpoint, that the early computing world communications phenomena of IRC = Internet Relay Chat; attributed to Jarkko Oikarinen - originally tested in the summer of 1988, but first hosted on ‘tolsun.oulu.fi’ in August that year. Is Twenty years old this month!

IRC is still going strong to this day, a more detailed ‘bumph’ on it is here:- Hi there! I’m a URL Link, please click me…

A list of available Windows clients can be found here:- Hi there! I’m a URL link too!

Though I would ask you to research IRC properly if you intend to give it a look see, it’s more for your ‘Old Skool’ folkses in the computer world =p

Anyhoo, once you’re happy you want to delve into this world of txt based comunications which far outdates Web 2.0 and Facebook etc…. then you can check the available servers here:- Hi I’m the last link on this post

Finally I’d just like to wish IRC a happy twentieth birthday, for all it’s manifestations through the years, it’s still with us and it’s all gravy!

DISCLAIMER > Any software you download from these links, and any activity you take part in as a result is through your own doing, and in no way should reflect back upon me for simply linking to public domain sites; Happy IRC’ing now!
