My Unconcious Mind’s Sense of Humour!
OMG!!! I’ve just finished watching a DVD - I wasn’t sure what to watch this evening, so I went for a random pick out of my collection, which turned out to be ‘Independance Day’ - and guess what date it is today?!!!?!
DUH!
I promise I didn’t realise it was the 4th July until after I finished watching the DVD….
All I can assume is my unconsious mind was well aware of the date, and thought the irony wouldn’t be wasted on me!
In other news…I am off to watch my first live game of Rugby at the Westpac Arena (amiably known as the cake-tin) tomorrow evening, with the All Blacks (New Zealand) yay!! Versus the Springboks (South Africa) in the start of the Tri-Nations. This should prove to be a very interesting game! Of course I’ll be supporting the local team ![]()

No commentsGeek Newsflash!!!
I was shown this at work today, and thought the need to share it on my blog!? It would appear life imitating art has struck again with the current developments going on at Washington University, as tested by rabbits! So it must be true!
Imagine a contact-lens with a built in circuit board, and lights, that could super-impose information on top of what you see….enhancing your vision with holographic information, or enhanced outlines of common landmarks, well that applications are endless! Anyhoo the link is here >> Hi! I’m a LINK << Go see!
In other news, less than a week till the New Zealand Brass Band Nationals!!!?!! ….and one more exclamation mark for good measure… !

I promise…this post isn’t a moan I just simply wanted to share that I have recently emailed my local (recently appointed) MP with regards to the situation I currently find myself in.
So, lets see if a little bit of polite political dialogue can ‘actually’ achieve positive outcomes eh?
Watch this space!! No wait… this one >>>> [ ........ ]

The Lotto over here is a little different to the UK, and me being the Geek I am, prefer to dabble only when it is offered in an online format, which it recently has been, there are three games, ‘One Big Wednesday’ which is a combination of money and assets - such as shiney new car etc… Then there’s the Saturday Draw, which is broken into three sections; $1 million lotto, $16 Million Power Ball, and $300,000 Strike. Finally there’s a daily play called Keno, prizes vary upto $1million depending on how much you stake, if you stake the minimum of $1 the max you can win is $250,000 not bad huh!.
Me being me, I entered tickets in all of these games last night for a bit of fun, and for my first forray into the NZ lotto world - Keno was drawn today, and I doubled my money straight away!!! with a whopping $8 win for matching 5 numbers =p
This calls for a celebration, I think some wine is in order!

Enough moaning about governments from me, I’ll be getting myself a bit of a rep! (too late)…
Whilst I remain annoyed, such emotion can do little to change my future, and if anything will just hinder it anyway, so I am happy to report that I remain in the ‘now’. It’s far less stressful, and the universe will see me right. It hasn’t steered me far wrong so far? For all the geekiness and technical aspect of my whole, I remain and always will be a rather metaphysical being indeed.
One of the most valuable lessons I have learned in recent years, is that it is too easy to let your emotions alone dictate your actions. Emotion is crucial to life, and quality of life in particular. Understanding their true merit is what makes them more precious than gold dust!
For all the woes in my life right now, I will sleep well tonight, and send out all my positive karma to the world! My prayer is that tomorrow brings a better day for mankind, not just me.
One last thing, someone please give me a good whack on the ear if I post anything else that is remotley close to a moan about money, housing or governments….it’s all a bit tired and pointless now. I’m going to make a concerted effort to look only for the good in the world and that can only start with a good night’s sleep.

So, I have just learned that the local council in Crewe are taking me to court for none payment of Council Tax, since my 6 month ‘grattis’ has apparently expired? Now. “If” I was still in the country I would concede my responsibility and cough up. BUT I have lived in New Zealand for over half a year now, and here’s my big problem with all of this….I have an empty house yes, but I have it currently on the market with every intention to sell as I am pretty settled here in New Zealand now. I am not currently in the UK, nor do I have any intention of returning for any period of time - so I cannot in any way physically benefit from anything the council tax pays for, so why the W#$%@ should I be held liable?
I have of course voiced this concern to my (ex)local council, and await their response but failing this, I will perhaps explore contacting the government more directly, alas I fear this approach will fall on completely deaf ears…but you’ve got to admit - this is pretty ‘irregular’
I can see the council’s argument “if” I was keeping the house, and intending to return, but I am not! So, the fact they are throwing court summonses my way, gets my hackles up. I’ve got enough on my plate with family, without local government in the UK adding to things!
They’ll do anything to scrape any last pennies from us serfs and peasants - it would appear to me that feudal disparity is alive and well, and currently living in the UK!
