…So, they say money is what makes the world go round, personsally I would argue it’s inertia, centrifugal force and a good dose of luck!!
I’m in a rather unique situation which I may or may not post about some of it good, some of it bad. It does have everything to do with my future though; so how I proceed is paramount. I kinda feel a little ‘loved up’ at the moment too. Someone I met a while back is kind of back on the scene - so things could well change for the better real quick!
I’ll leave this post there - rather cryptic like, but well - that’s the way the cookie crumbles at the moment (unless it’s a whole host of ‘other’ physical forces such as pressure, torsional force, and good old Newtonian power play!).

I’m nothing if not inventive, granted it wasn’t my idea, but tonight’s socialisation involved going to a Ceilidh Night, where I was introduced to some orchestra players; friends of a friend so to speak - and I was treated to a night of learning a number of Ceilidh Dances, can’t remember all the names, but the more memorable were - ‘Strip the Willow’ and ‘Nottingham Swing’ though there were a good few others too, and in between whilst we rested various members of the group did party pieces from poetry, to singing to music!
A night of culture, good company… no GREAT company and best of all?? It cost me not one single penny
(unless you count the petrol it cost me to drive there and back).
This was just the medicine I needed to get out of my current doldrums, so please pretty much desregard my last post because, really - its all good
P.S. Thank you Rachael for inviting me - you’re a cool mate; and fellow cornet player; Top Marks!!

My heart is torn in a millions directions today; I have ’something’ on my mind that just won’t go away. My life is akin to a game of chess - where most of my powerful pieces are captured; and I am missing my queen - unless I can promote one of my pawns that are left, I will remain in life’s stale-mate.
I’m sobor. Emotional.
For the time being - alone.
It’s too easy to ring up family, they are 12,000 miles away, and can not take away the pain in my heart right now, this isn’t home sickness. This is a more subtle kind of sickness. Alas - I fear my depression demon is wanting to prop it’s ugly head up again!
I will go out tonight and socialise, with complete strangers. I will put on my mask of smiles and sycophantic gestures - which only serve to further entrench my current isolation from real life.
I am a lost human, in a race of beings I know little about; I just want to find a moment of joy.

I have finally solved the problem of getting Windows Vista downgraded to XP on my…modest Acer Aspire 5310!!! Yeeeeeee-Har! Thanks to the AWESOME power of nLite and some pretty good instructions from here Wiki-me-silly!! Although the instructions were focused at creating a build of ‘lite’ XP for EEE devices, it was straight forward enough to alter it to my needs…
My problem started with the fact I have an 80Gig SATA drive connected via AHCI (Advanced Host Controller Interface), and the helpful Acer dudes have disabled my ability in the BIOS to revert back to IDE (Integrated Drive Electronics). So when you put in the bog standard XP disc, all’s well until you come to select the installation destination…oops no disc! Ah but of course all you need do is hit F6 and install the SATA drive right? WRONG! These wonderful Acer Laptops have no Floppy drive, and you don’t get the option to select any alternative.
Insert months of whining and swearing at Acer behind their backs, and then I come across this post on a forum >> Forum_Post And lo….it’s as if the light of the heavens have open themselves to me!
Anyhoo…I was able to slipstream the correct driver for my drive into the installation of XP, rip out all the rubbish apps i don’t want, intigrate SP2, add a few cool extras like Notepad++ and Winrar (file compression) and FileZilla (cool FTP app), Avast Home (Free Anti-Virus), XnView (image viewing and conversion) and creating a insert and forget ISO disc, so that I just have to switch the laptop on, put the disk in and forget it exists for 40 mins…
I know many geeks out there will holler…nLite is nothing new, but it was easy to follow, clear and intuitive and worth a great big HUGE thumbs up from me so there!
