It’s been a most exhilerating weekend, with us (Pelorus Trust Wellington Brass Band) coming 5th in the Marching Contest!! beating many A Grade bands a result none of us were expecting, especially when I added an extra note at the end?!

We then walked away with the Hymn, Test Piece and Own Choice 1st place prizes but we lost out on the sit down March by about 1 point despite that minor set back, the aggregate score means we are now currently the new Australian National Champions for B-Grade, and if we retain the NZ National title later this year we will be the first band in history to hold both titles concurruntly!

This is the stuff that dreams are made of!

Oh yeah baby!! Brisbane? Watch out, I’m headed your way! This Easter the band I joined (Wellington Brass Band) will be going over there to compete in Australian Nationals, coz we’re like the best band in the whole world or something….well I believe it?! (second only to Frodsham Silver Band of course - how could I forget you guys?!) Anyhoo…after all the blowing, and the wind, and marching and stuff, I’ll be heading down to the Gold Coast for a week…general debauchery etc…pubs, clubs…beaches (with pubs, clubs)….hotel/bungalows (near pubs, clubs)…

So….Perfect time for me to sort my self out! If you get my meaning, and try my hand at some good harmless dating fun! My biggest task, and goal in all of this, is to learn how to laugh at myself and actually mean it! I hate taking myself and life so seriously (it’s like my work life persona has invaded my own).

As you guessed, I am on the upbeat, but that’s also because I have some time off soon, Keith (ex-colleague from UK) is over with his wife, and they hit Wellington in a couple of days, I of course with a little forsight have booked the time off, so I can meet up with them and generally behave like a two year old (who’s allowed alcohol)….

In other news on a more serious and scientific note, for all you guys in the UK, I will test whether or not the water really does spin the ‘other way’ when going down the plug-hole in Oz!

I realise I ought to be asleep by now, but I’ve been running a marathon of a different sort; phoning mortgage people, and loan people; making arrangments for a solicitor etc…. Time for a Yeeee-Haaar!! I’ve accepted an offer on my house, the ball is now rolling in approximatley 5 to 8 weeks I’ll be released of all UK financial ties (although - I will keep a bank account ticking over, plus a small credit card in order to keep my credit rating whilst I am not in country) - that way if I ever return. I don’t have to rebuild my status from scratch….sneaky huh!

Gonna catch some zzzzzz’s now :sleepy: at least it’s Friday eh?

It only took 2 years and 3 months to reach this most austentacious landmark in my blog. I feel like I should be doing something to celebrate?! But heck what to do! Hmmm…I’d crack open a bottle of wine, but I am on rations as part of my new routine to become …”super hero” like fit! I may not be able to fly like Clark Kent, but I have the geeky glasses!!! It’s a start?
