Indeed, we are a changed Nation!  Though if you were to blink like me - you’d hardly have noticed it?  we have a new Prime Minister; Gordon Brown - Born a Scot, but since we are such a multi-national and multi-cultural place these days, nationality should have nothing to do with it.

What surprises me, is the relatively quiet manner he seems to have fallen into the position?  Or maybe it’s perhaps because I simply haven’t watch much current affairs this week?

Either way.  Fundamentally the country is now different, and yet, the same…(blink)

Mood : nostalgic

Having stayed in bed all day with “MAN-FLU!!!” I decided to get up about 8ish this evening and have just been watching a homage to the miracle that was “Swap Shop” and as it has gone through its televisual metamorphosis over the last thirty years, I have woken up to the fact that these years are probably the best years I will ever experience on this planet, this last thirty years is a time that has enjoyed more change and growth globally than in any other civilisation’s reign, yes a lot of change was due to the Romans and the Greek/Lycians and the Chinese, but that change was a slow organic change.

Change over the last thirty years in my opinion has been far more fluid than organic, with the explosion in comunications; Commerce has changed for ever.  Recreation has changed for ever,  Medicine has changed for ever, Science has changed for ever….the list could go on….the world in my opinion is on the cusp of a new revolution, this could be good or bad depending on your view point.

A global revolution may well already be taking place, and it shouldn’t be about taking sides and fighting pathetic wars, either physically or politically, it should be about regaining the most important thing to us as human beings - FAMILY.  The years ahead should be the years when the global family get’s over it’s adolescence and we try to exist as one.  A family is full of interesting dynamics - everyone is different.

So, this should also follow on a global scale; diversity should be embraced and not smouthered, we should celebrate our differences, I guess for the most part I preach to the converted anyways, this is just my wish for the years ahead.  I am tired of hearing about our soldiers stationed in the Middle East, fighting a war - for what exactly?  Can anyone tell me?

My personal view at the moment is that America is the adolescent in our global family, and it will soon be time for it to grow up.  China, Asia, Europe, Africa; the rest of the world is far older, and though not necessarily far wiser - ought to be listened to a bit more.  In the coming years my eyes will be watching American politics with interest and perhaps a little fear.

According to Annanova one of my regular sources > Osbourne and I apologise now, for the political flavour in my blog of late, but I am getting more and more intrigued by it all in my old age.

I watched an interview on Sky this morning, in which he simply refused to give a straight forward answer in fact he was an “ATYPICAL” politician in the report, spouting the “I know what the public wants” eulogy, and as I look back over the last week and the similar interviews with similar or indifferent politicians I have noticed one thing absolutley every single one has in common!

Not a single politician would in any way shape or form offer any personal or professional speculation on the future state of either our country’s economy or policies!

Where on earth has the back bone gone from British Politics?!!  How on earth are we to exercise our voting rights if none of the politicians out there will give us something concrete to vote on!  It’s getting rediculous…

Apparently we could be openly indoctrinating future generations in our schools on “Core British Values” - Read Here, don’t get me wrong I am a patriot; but when you read reports like this one and I quote:

“Government ministers believe citizenship classes, which may in future be required to cover core “British values”, will help reduce extremism and violence among young people.”

This hints dangerously at indoctrination of the young, which is on shakey ethical ground at best.  This is best left to the realm of Religious fad in my opinion.  Admittedly it must be difficult to strike the correct balance in order to educate without indcotrination to a certain degree, but let’s set the ground rules first eh?  Indoctrination in education is inescapable but it is unforgivable to allow either political or religious indoctrination to creep in - this takes away one of the few freedoms all citizens regardless of culture or background should enjoy - “CHOICE” - oooh I know!!  Let’s teach ALL five years olds that by the time they reach voting age although they CAN vote, they ought to only vote for Labour!

When I read stories like this (and I know the media likes to put spin on things so there is a lot of salt with this one) I get this awful feeling the UK will end up like some totalitarian state by the time it’s 2012!!

Are we to creep back to the draconian ways of the Victorian era?  Or is this a new horror altogether worse than that!
