Weekend kinda passing me by at the moment. I’m trying to remain positive about the house. Though it means I gotta tighten the belt strings financially for now, and also keep my fingers crossed that the exchange rate between Pounds and NZ Dollars remains good.

I’ve also realised just out of sync with TV I am now, since I don’t watch any!! I usually just hire a DVD box set of some series that I never got into in the UK, to see what it is like etc… I ‘did’ however bring back a classics DVD box set from Brisbane which included such titles as ‘Metropolis’ and ‘Nosferatu’ oh and ‘House on Haunted Hill’ - with Vincent Price (think I’ll watch that one today)

If there’s one thing I really want to do, it is to get a better understanding of the true nature of time, and yes - that is supposed to sound as deep as it does! Time has always fascinated and eluded me. Based on my own perceptions, and not necessarily so scientific approach; the passage of time is never a constant, it fluctuates like the tides of the ocean - if that makes any sense? Let me put it another way; sometimes my perception of say 1 hour, can appear to take longer than other perception of an hour based on the context of my situation and mental alertness…

Taking subjectiveness into account, this could be simply meaningless. However it could also hint at a very direct relationship between time and human consciousness; more specifically level of concentration! So, coupled with this new perspective on time, would it ever be possible to control one’s own concentration to such a point as to cancel out the passage of time, even but for just one moment?

A single thought could last a lifetime! With all the mysteries of the quantum universe unfolding around us; with it’s own questions whose to say, the human mind doesn’t have a few quantum tricks of it’s own?? Whether it be a simple quantum by-product of nature, or an actual lifetime’s thought; who will ever know? It’s all a bit of a paradox really?

Could anyone out there actually discuss time from a leyman’s point of view, forget the scientist, forget the mathematician, or the engineer - just a simple leyman. An alien makes first contact with Earth, you are the lucky one who finds you can communicate in a common language - how would you describe the concept of time?

And here’s a real head exploder!! This is a point of view I simply accept; without any direct evidence; call it a belief if you like - I believe that all the things we DON’T see in the universe around us conform to a pattern, I mean who’s to say when you’re NOT looking things aren’t in perfect symmetry!? For all you choas junkies out there, I would argue that chaos is simply a pattern too - just one we have no current concept of recognising yet. It’s like static on an untuned TV - to 99.99% (unqualified number) of us it appears to be random in nature; however with my pattern belief this apparently random static is a pattern like any other; we’re just not clever enough to see it yet.

So, maybe - just maybe time has some part to play in all of this pattern malarky? Understand time, understand the universe, even the bits you can’t see!

I was about to goto bed, but just had to post on the blog first. I’m filled with this amazing feeling - it’s almost akin to elation; or that feeling you get when you first start going out with someone?! Alas that part isn’t true about me (yet)…*chuckle*…sigh! It’s odd since I have no real grounds to feel this way, I guess my mindset has changed every so slightly and decided ‘What the heck!’ lets just feel good anyway?!

I’ve checked my diet, and I haven’t eaten anything different than usual, though Chinese for lunch two days on the run is not exactly condusive to my lifestyle!! I’ve not been drinking ‘any’ alcohol since returning from the Gold Coast in Australia….since I’m on call this week, my one big rule to myself is that I never drink when on call. But at all other times I can drink myself to a stupour and suffer memory loss! (kidding!!)

Boo-ya! I’m certainly bouncy this evening, just hope I can settle myself and actually get some sleep!

Mood : indescribable

Apparently the Pope has decided to decree another seven sins to add onto the original seven deadly sins?!

NEW
Genetic modification
Carrying out experiments on humans
Polluting the environment
Causing social injustice
Causing poverty
Becoming obscenely wealthy
Taking drugs

ORIGINAL SEVEN
Sloth
Envy
Gluttony
Greed
Lust
Wrath
Pride

So, without even thinking about the old lets get all pedantic on the new ones eh..?

1) Genetic Modification > I guess you can kiss goodbye to any heart/limb transplants or bone marrow transplants, or blood transfusions to save lives, because you are putting someone elses genetic material inside a body, thus genetically modifying it…SINNER!!!!

2) Carrying out experiments on humans > No more GCSE’s, No more A Levels, No more Degree’s, No more Polls these are all forms of statistical experimentation on humans whether for informational purposes or to gauge intelligence…hmmm hang on this is a bad thing? SINNER!!!!

3) Polluting the environment > oh well I guess if you fart one more time, you’ll end up in the ninth circle of hell!! SINNER!!!!

4) Causing social injustice > Ok so this could be related to the last one, you fart in a public place, maybe a lift in a MALL? Boy?!!! That’s a Social Injustice alright! SINNER!!!!

5) Causing poverty > So by getting up everyday and going to work to earn a wage, you are putting someone else somewhere (probably more qualified too) out of a job thus causing poverty SINNER!!!!

6) Becoming obscenely wealthy > No wonder Bill Gates is standing down from Microsoft and given up the top spot as richest man in the world! SINNER!!!!

7) Taking drugs > “Drugs are bad m’k?” What?! you took a lemsip for you cold last night..? SINNER!!!!

But I’d argue that these new version are surplus to recquirement and simply a repetition of the older traditional sins in one form or another:

1) Genetic modification - could be tied into Envy - Does she go for the breast enlargement or the breast reduction?!

2) Carrying out experiments on humans - could be tied into Pride, Lust and Wrath depending on the mood of the torturer…(cough) I mean scientist….

3) Polluting the environment - Well simply put this is gluttony, wanting limitless energy at the cost of the ozone…

4) Causing social injustice - Again a happy mixture of Greed, Lust, and Wrath! Maybe Pride too if you took your injusticing seriously enough?

5) Causing poverty - Again Greed, Lust, Sloth, Gluttony take you pick any one of the original 7 can contribute to this

6) Becoming obscenely wealthy - Greed, Gluttony, Pride, Lust

7) Taking drugs - Sloth, Lust, Greed, Pride etc…. they all still fit!

As you can see I am taking a very dim view and have in the very posting of this commited no end of sins myself, oh well at least I am suitabley named (minus the sixes on forehead), there’s just one conundrum that has me quaking and nervous about all of this, since sinning is a very negative thing there is now a tip in the balance, 14 sins to 7 virtues….who on EARTH?! can come up with another 7 virtues to even the score????

Answers on a postcard too….
