So, I am pretty much moved into my new digs flatting with one of my new bessy mates Courtney! Everything went a lot smoother than I could have imagined even transporting my sofa-bed was less than a chore thanks to Rachael’s (from band) dad with his “Tank” hehe people carriers are ace cars!! Since moving in, I’ve been a bit of a party demon; I was out Friday just gone till 1 am, then on Saturday I was out till 5am!! If anything I feel like I am getting younger not older if that makes sense? I guess I am more suited to city life than I thought.

I’ll take it all in moderation of course…as I don’t want to risk growing bored of it. There’s even a small family living at our flat, a pigeon has nested just outside on the balcony and now has a couple of chicks.

In other news, the corner of my head made it onto TV One News on Saturday as I was doing the Kickaldie & Staines Christmas Window Display Fanfares with the band and also welcoming Santa along, I guess this marks the start of the Christmas banding season, so I’ll be out a lot with the band over the next couple of weeks….

Andrew (bro!!) if you read this, I am really sorry I have not managed to call again to wish you a happy birthday, but I’ve been in the middle of a move and just a little distracted, I’ll get in touch soon and have a chinwag ;p

Hmmm….think that covers things for now.

Oh no!!! Wait!!! I went to a preview showing of the new James Bond movie yesterday too (I have the right friends yay!!!) it rocks, it ROKS BIGTIME!! I thouroughly recommend you watch it, has all the hallmarks of Bond - the title sequence, the opening action sequence, the bond girl…the only noticable lack from this movie was no ‘Q’ but that doesn’t diminish the film at all.

Ok that’s all for now folks blogs ya laterz…..

I’d review in more detail after seeing this film, but I’ll just recommend you go and see it! Possibly Brad Pitt’s most comedic role to date, and a surprising exit from the film as you watch this romptastic farce based upon misunderstandings between pretty much all parties concerned. Strong roles from all the big names in this, including George Clooney, John Malkovich, Tilda Swinton and France McDormand to name a few….

I loved this film, and would certainly give it another watch! You may need a cup of coffee before commencing your viewing however; as you need to stay fairly alert to keep on top of the various twists and turns in the crazy plot.

What did ‘you’ think of the film…? Drop your comments here!

In other news yes I did dress up in Leiderhosen Shorts, braces and cap for the Octoberfest Beer Band Gig, we played really well all things considered, and even chucked out a rendition of ‘Eye of the Tiger’…good stuff!!

What can I say, where do i start??? First of all, to have both Jet Li *AND* Jackie Chan in the same movie, is dynamite! Though there were plenty of other stars in this movie too :D The whole thing was very well done, and as soon as it hits DVD I’ll be adding it to my collection?!

Forbidden Kingdom

So, what’s so cool about this movie?? Well ‘OK’ so the fight sequences are a bit predictable, and it’s all kind of Daniel La’Rousso in approach - BUT!! It’s possibly the finest homage to MONKEY MAGIC you are ever likley to see….and I do hope they do more films like this, coz Monkey Magic rok’d!!!

The basic plot goes like this - wimp of an American teenager who’s hooked on all things Martial Arts (including the awesome Monkey Magic!) anyhoo I digress, he wanders into China-town to a pawn shop (yes I DID spell that right ok?!); and he stumbles across a magical staff, that once belonged to the mighty Monkey King of ancient Chinese past (just think Monkey Magic and you’ll be fine =p) anyhoo….this kid get’s into a bit of a scrape and the staff magically transports him back to the time of the Monkey King, hence we start the adventure, whereby crummy kid turns into Kung-Fu Master in the space of little over an hour which you could almost believe when his teachers are Jet Li and Jackie Chan!!! Lol…he has to return the staff to it’s rightful owner though and therein lies the core of this film, plenty of fight scenes, and plenty of what you come to expect in Martial Arts flicks - I loved it anyway :D I won’t tell you how the movie pans out to the end, you’ll just have to watch it for yourself.

For the uninitiated I guess you would best compare this film to A mix of “Bulletproof Monk”, “Karate Kid”, “House of the Flying Daggers” and “Monkey Magic” ….all kinda chucked into a blender for like 2 hours…Not a bad cocktail in movie terms if you ask me!

Awesome - awesome and awesome!!!

You never can fail to enjoy a film with Jack Black in; this one was especially cool. With the whole ‘lets remake all the movies in our own way’ approach, it’s a great reminder that there is more to movie making than big bucks and special effects. Sometimes the only special effect you need is an active imagination. I really enjoyed this one. A recommended watch!

It brought memories to me of a old flick I saw as a child, called ‘The Swallows and the Amazons’ which was an adventure based around a group of kids on lake Windermere - around the same sort of era as the likes of ‘The Railway Children’ et al - proper sentimental stuff; which is all but forgotten in England (such a shame) - I’d gladly accept anyone to prove me wrong.

Here’s to the wonder of imagination! May it continue to grow and offer us all something new for the next day, and the next…
